The investment creates 152 new jobs, with additional jobs expected in the future.

Work under the redevelopment included the extension and upgradation of the company's current food processing facilities as well as the introduction of a new gel bone production plant at its neighbouring by-products site.

The upgraded facilities are anticipated to contribute over €1bn to the economy over the next five years.

ABP Cahir is now one of the biggest employers in the region employing 615 people directly.

The investment contributes to the Food Wise 2025 plan, which has been launched by the government to grow the agri-food industry with a target of 23,000 new jobs and €19bn annual exports by 2025.

ABP Food CEO Paul Finnerty said, "Our investment, the largest ever by an Irish beef business, helps underpin over 600 jobs and contributes to helping deliver on the vision of Food Wise 2025.

"Today is also about innovating for the future with the opening of our new gel bone production plant. This is the first of its kind in Ireland and the UK and will provide added value opportunities for bovine bones in the pharmaceutical and beauty industries."

ABP Food offers beef products including primal cuts and offal; lamb products that include shoulder, middle, and leg cuts; fresh and frozen meat and meat based products; and private label pet food products.
